Allen Gentry

           Allen Gentry is a native of Bristol, Tennessee. He attended the University of Tennessee and graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education. He did his student teaching at Robinson Middle School with Mr. Herron and at Dobyns-Bennett High School with Mr. Tyler Fleming. He has continued his education by studying jazz drumming with Joe Morrello, the renowned jazz drummer for the Dave Brubeck Quartet.

        Mr. Gentry has served as percussion staff and consultant with the Wallace and John Battle Band programs for over 20 years.  In addition, he has served as the percussion instructor for the Robinson Middle School Band for the last twenty-nine years. He has also served as the marching drum line instructor for Virginia High School, Tennessee High School, Abingdon High School, and Sullivan East High School. He has played professionally with area symphony orchestras, The Old West Dinner Theatre, Theatre Bristol, and Barter Theatre.

           Mr. Gentry has served as an advisory board member to the Tennessee Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society. Currently, he is an Educational Endorser for the Pro-Mark Drum Stick Corporation.

        Mr. Gentry currently teaches private percussion lessons in Kingsport and Bristol.
