Cynthia Roberts, Assistant Director

John S. Battle High School Band

 

        Cynthia Roberts is a native of Bristol, Tennessee where she attended Sullivan East High School.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from East Tennessee State University in 1992.  After college she served as Interim Director at Sullivan East High School in 1995.  She is currently serving as middle school director at Wallace Middle School and Assistant Director at John Battle High School.  She has furthered her education by attending classes at University of Virginia and Radford University.

 

        Mrs. Roberts enjoys teaching beginner trumpet, trombone and French horn lessons to private students in Kingsport, Tennessee.  She has had several students to make East Tennessee All State Band and Orchestra at the high school and middle school levels.   She has taught private lessons for 12 years in Kingsport.

 

        While at Wallace Middle School, the band program has achieved successful ratings at concert festival and state recognition by performing for the Virginia Middle School Conference.  At John Battle High School, she instructs low brass students and assists with marching and concert bands.  The John Battle Band has continued to maintain a high standard of excellence in their marching bands and concert bands over the years.

 

        Cynthia is a member of Delta Omicron Sorority, Music Educator’s Association, National Band Director’s Association and Virginia Music Educations Association.  She has served as secretary for District VII secretary for the past 6 years.

 

        Mrs. Roberts is married and has one daughter.
